La magia di una piega | UniTrentoMag
UniTrentoMag explores how Professor Diego Misseroni uses the ancient art of origami and kirigami to design metamaterials with extreme and adaptable mechanical properties, embedding fold lines at the microstructural level to control stiffness and response to external stimuli. His work — rooted in a lifelong passion for mechanics and inspired by the geometry of folding — aims to create materials and structures that respond autonomously to their environment, with potential applications from robotic graspers to aerospace and wearable devices. This research is part of his ERC-funded project S-Foam (Self-Foldable Origami-Architected Metamaterials).
